Dr. Afrim Vuçitërna is a specialist ophthalmologist with over 30 years of experience in Kosovo’s public healthcare system. He began his career in 1990. Dr. Vuçitërna has worked in both outpatient clinics and hospitals. He focuses on anterior segment diseases and general ophthalmology.

He completed his medical degree and specialization in ophthalmology in the former Yugoslavia. Dr. Vuçitërna is a member of the Kosovo Chamber of Doctors (Oda e Mjekëve të Kosovës). This membership shows his professional accreditation and dedication to high standards in clinical care.

Dr. Gokay Gunay is an ophthalmologist. He trained at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine (1991–1997) and at Istanbul University Çapa Faculty of Medicine, Department of Eye Diseases (1997–2001).

He has experience in over 20,000 surgical cases. He is a member of the Turkish Ophthalmology Association, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He speaks English.

Prof. Dr. Michael Georgopoulos is a Senior Consultant in Vitreoretinal Surgery at the Medical University of Vienna. He specializes in diseases of the macula, retina, and vitreous body. He is known for his skill in macular surgery, treating retinal detachment, and managing complex vitreous disorders such as vitreous hemorrhage and opacification.

Dr. Georgopoulos has led important clinical studies on 23-gauge transconjunctival vitrectomy and high-resolution OCT. He has also worked on new treatments, including VEGF inhibitors and cortisone. Professor Michael Georgopoulos is a Senior Consultant in Vitreoretinal Surgery at the Medical University of Vienna. He specializes in surgical diseases of the macula, retina, and vitreous body. He is known for advanced procedures such as macular opening, macular fold correction, vitreomacular traction syndrome, and retinal detachment surgeries. He also performs combined cataract and retinal surgeries. In addition, he manages cases of vitreous hemorrhage and opacification.

Dr. Georgopoulos is recognized for introducing seamless 23-gauge transconjunctival vitrectomy. He also pioneered additive anti-VEGF therapy and the use of high-resolution 3D optical coherence tomography (HR-OCT) for pre- and postoperative assessment. He leads clinical research on postoperative cortisone therapy, comparison of surgical techniques, drug therapy for the vitreous body, and cytokine analysis in retinal diseases.

Dr. Akin Akyurt is an experienced ophthalmologist. He graduated from Istanbul University School of Medicine. He completed advanced fellowships at University Eye Clinics in Cologne and Tuebingen, Germany. He also holds a PhD focused on immunomodulatory therapy for uveitis.

Dr. Akyurt is certified in LASIK, presbyopia correction with multifocal intraocular lenses, scleral fixation, corneal collagen cross-linking, femtosecond anterior segment surgery, and corneal topography analysis. He is a member of the DOG, AAO, ASCRS, and ESCRS.
