Selçuk Basa est diplômé de la Faculté de médecine dentaire de l'Université d'Ankara en 1982. En 1986, il a complété sa formation spécialisée dans le domaine de la chirurgie buccale, dentaire et maxillo-faciale à la Faculté de médecine dentaire de l'Université Hacettepe. Après avoir travaillé à l'hôpital Pasteur entre 1986 et 1990, il a travaillé comme professeur agrégé et directeur adjoint à l'université de Selçuk entre 1991 et 1994. Travaillant à l'Université de Marmara entre 1994 et 2016, le professeur Selçuk Basa a été doyen de la faculté de médecine dentaire entre 2004 et 2008. En 1989, Université médicale de Caroline du Sud aux États-Unis, Chirurgie buccale et maxillo-faciale au London Guys Hospital en 1990 et Chirurgie plastique faciale et maxillo-faciale à l'hôpital Marien de Stuttgart, Allemagne en 1999, Paris Armand. Il a étudié la chirurgie faciale à l'hôpital Trousseau. Le professeur Selçuk Basa a travaillé dans le domaine de la chirurgie buccale et maxillo-faciale à l'université allemande de Bonn en 2001 et à l'université américaine de Caroline du Nord en 2005. Il travaille en tant que doyen de la faculté de médecine dentaire de l'université de Bahçeşehir depuis 2021.
