Prof. Dr. Kamil Yalçın Polat is a leading transplantology expert and Head of the Organ Transplantation Center at Memorial Bahçelievler Hospital in Istanbul. With over 30 years of surgical experience, he founded the Organ Transplantation Center at Atatürk University (2003-2010) and completed fellowships at Mount Sinai Hospital and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Dr. Polat has authored more than 50 scientific publications and serves as Vice President of the Turkish Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgery Society.
Dr. Bülent Ünal is a general surgeon and surgical oncologist. He is Head of General Surgery and Surgical Oncology at Florence Nightingale Hospital. He graduated from Çukurova University in 1996. He completed his general surgery residency at Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital in 2001. He finished a minor specialization in surgical oncology at İnönü University in 2012.
In 2008, he was an NCI Short-Term Scientist at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center for 10 months. He trained in sentinel node techniques and ductoscopy. In 2010, he completed transplantation and oncology training at the University of Giessen and Marburg. He has many international publications and book chapters. His co-authored series include 128 living-donor liver recipients, 26 Fournier gangrene cases, and 18 diaphragmatic injuries.
He serves on the Board of the Surgical Oncology Association. He is also a member of several Turkish and international surgical societies.
