3D-planning of surgery

Before the procedure, a patient is screened on a 3D computed tomography (CT) device. It shows the thickness, length and position of the face bones at different angles, detects the location of the nerves. The 3D-CT is 3,000 times more accurate than the X-ray.

Using a CT, medical technicians model the result of intervention in a 3D program. This allows a patient to evaluate the future result and make changes if necessary. Doctors use CT results to accurately perform the operation without damaging the nerves.

Bone scalpel

An ultrasound machine, called a bone scalpel, affects only bone tissue. Doctors use it to give the bone a desired shape. Ultrasound does not destroy the blood vessels and nerves; the affection of tissues is minimal. Recovery is faster than in case of applying a traditional scalpel.
