Après ses études en 1976 au lycée pour garçons de Kabataş et ses études de premier cycle en 1982 à la faculté de médecine de l'université d'Istanbul, Sabuncu a commencé à travailler comme spécialiste pédiatrique à l'hôpital de gynécologie et de pédiatrie Zeynep Kamil en 1995 et a participé à divers congrès médicaux en Lituanie, en Espagne, au Portugal et en Iran en 2004, 2005, 2007 et 2010.

En 2012, après avoir terminé son service à la clinique pédiatrique de l'hôpital Zeynep Kamil, Sabuncu a reçu un certificat de sauvetage néonatal en 2019 et travaille à la clinique naturelle depuis 2021.
