Il est né en 1965 à Istanbul. En 1982, il est diplômé du lycée de garçons de Kabataş. Après avoir obtenu son diplôme de la faculté de médecine de l'université d'Istanbul en 1988, il a terminé sa spécialisation en obstétrique et gynécologie à la faculté de médecine Cerrahpaşa de l'université d'Istanbul, département d'obstétrique et de gynécologie. Il est devenu professeur associé à la faculté de médecine de Cerrahpaşa en 1993 et est devenu professeur en 2003.
