Dr. Serdar Kabatas, graduated from Trakya University Medical Faculty, Edirne/Turkey in 1997. He became a neurosurgeon-specialist- in 2003 and then gained an award for postdoctoral fellowship in Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) and Neural Stem Cell (NSC) at Harvard Medical School in 2007. He has spent most of his scientific carrier in the study of SCI related stem cell applications either experimentally or clinically, stem cell clinical applications in hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, autism spectrum disorders, periferic nervous system injuries, cell-based approaches for intervertebral disc regeneration, dentritic stem cell vaccines regarding brain tumours, trigeminal neuralgia, aneurysm surgery, etc. Among his achievements are the prediction of neural and anatomical abnormalities of the gastrointestinal system resulting from contusion SCI and functional multipotency of NSCs- its therapeutic implications- in USA. 

In addition to his scientific interests, he is the President of Society of Stem Cell and Cellular Therapies in Turkey. He is also member of AANS, CNS, Society of Neuroscience, Turkish Neurosurgical Society, Society of Nervous System Surgery and Turkish Spine Society. He is the chief editor of Journal of Nervous System Surgery. He had been teaching neurosurgery to medical students at the Baskent University, Turkey from 2008 to 2013. Between 2013 to 2015, he was the chief of Neurosurgery Department in Private Reyap Hospital, Tekirdağ. Curently, he has been the chief of Department of Neurosurgery in University of Health Sciences Turkey, Gaziosmanpaşa Training and Research Hospital, Istanbul, Turkey since 2016. He was awarded as the first candidate for Specialization Thesis (2004) and Board Exam (2011) in Turkey, respectively. He was also awarded as research project regarding Stem Cell Applications in Rat Model (2013) in Turkey. He has more than 100 publications in peer-reviewed international journals with around 1300 citations. His h-index is 21 in google scholar and 17 in web of science.

Il est né en 1974 à Osmanbey, Istanbul. Il est diplômé de la faculté de médecine de l'université de Marmara en 1997, qu'il avait commencée en 1991. La même année, il a commencé sa spécialisation dans le département de neurochirurgie de l'université de Marmara. Il a obtenu son diplôme en 2002 avec le titre de spécialiste en neurochirurgie. Après avoir obtenu sa spécialisation, il a effectué son service militaire en tant que neurochirurgien spécialiste à l'hôpital Haydarpaşa de l'Académie médicale militaire de Gülhane. Pendant cette période, il a également suivi une formation en microchirurgie dans les laboratoires de microchirurgie de GATA Ankara dans le cadre d'une affectation officielle. Il a ensuite effectué son service obligatoire à l'hôpital de formation et de recherche Lütfi Kırdar.

Il a travaillé à l'hôpital Avicenna Ataşehir pendant sept ans. Parallèlement, il a également été membre du conseil d'administration de l'Association du système nerveux. Il s'est rendu à l'hôpital 29 Mayıs de la Fondation religieuse turque. Plus tard, il retourne dans l'État pour une période, d'abord à l'hôpital d'État de Maltepe, puis avec son nouveau nom Kartal Dr. Il a travaillé à l'hôpital de la ville de Lütfi Kırdar.

En 2020, il quitte à nouveau l'État et commence à travailler en tant que neurochirurgien spécialiste et médecin-chef adjoint à l'hôpital académique.

Après avoir reçu le titre de professeur agrégé de neurochirurgie en 2021, il a quitté ses fonctions administratives pour se concentrer sur ses études universitaires. Actuellement, il est membre du corps enseignant de la faculté des sciences de la santé de l'université Galata et membre du conseil consultatif de la faculté de médecine de l'université Beykent.

Bien qu'il fournisse des services professionnels dans tous les domaines de la neurochirurgie, ses domaines de prédilection sont la chirurgie du rachis, la neurochirurgie pédiatrique, la neurochirurgie périphérique et la chirurgie des tumeurs.

Il accepte des patients à l'hôpital intercontinental d'Hisar depuis octobre 2022.

Plus tard, il retourne dans l'État pour une période, d'abord à l'hôpital d'État de Maltepe, puis avec son nouveau nom Kartal Dr. Il a travaillé à l'hôpital de la ville de Lütfi Kırdar.

En 2020, il quitte à nouveau l'État et commence à travailler en tant que neurochirurgien spécialiste et médecin-chef adjoint à l'hôpital académique.

Après avoir reçu le titre de professeur agrégé de neurochirurgie en 2021, il a quitté ses fonctions administratives pour se concentrer sur ses études universitaires. Actuellement, il est membre du corps enseignant de la faculté des sciences de la santé de l'université Galata et membre du conseil consultatif de la faculté de médecine de l'université Beykent.

Bien qu'il fournisse des services professionnels dans tous les domaines de la neurochirurgie, ses domaines de prédilection sont la chirurgie du rachis, la neurochirurgie pédiatrique, la neurochirurgie périphérique et la chirurgie des tumeurs.

Il accepte des patients à l'hôpital intercontinental d'Hisar depuis octobre 2022.

During this period, he completed his micro neurosurgery education, which was a breakthrough for him, at Zurich University “Professor M. Gazi Yaşargil’s Clinic”.

Between 1993-2003, he worked as a teaching assistant and then as an assistant professor at the Professor Necmettin Pamir’s Clinic, Faculty of Medicine, Marmara University. At the same time, he obtained clinical and surgical gains in the field of neurooncology and vascular neurosurgery at Professor Donlin M. Long and Daniele Rigamonti's Clinic at Johns Hopkins University, USA. In 2003, he received the title of Associate Professor of Neurosurgery.

Between 2004-2010, he worked as Chief of Clinic in Göztepe Training and Research Hospital of Ministry of Health. During this period, he led his clinic to become the only accredited clinic by EANS (The European Association of Neurosurgical Societies) in Turkey, with its educational and care services. During this period, he completed his endoscopic skull base training starting at the University of Pittsburgh.

In 2010, he started to work for Acıbadem University Faculty of Medicine and became a Professor of Neurosurgery. He established the Neurosurgery Department in Medipol University Faculty of Medicine on 2012. He served as a Head of Neurosurgery Department in Memorial Health Group Istanbul Hospitals between 2014-2018. He served Neurosurgery Department of Maslak Hospital of Acıbadem Health Group with his team between 2018- September 2021.

Since 01.10.2021, He have started to work with his team at my private clinic located in Fulya and Ulus Hospital of Liv Health Group.

He served as the founding chairman of ”Skull Base Society” in Turkey. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the European Skull Base Society (ESBS).
