Le professeur Ümmügül Üyetürk a suivi ses études de premier et de deuxième cycles à la faculté de médecine de l'université d'Uludağ entre 1988 et 1994. Elle s'est spécialisée en médecine interne à l'hôpital de formation et de recherche d'Istanbul de 1998 à 2003. Entre 2008 et 2011, elle a suivi sa formation de surspécialité en oncologie médicale à l'hôpital de formation et de recherche en oncologie d'Ankara.

Après avoir été médecin-chef adjointe à l'hôpital d'État de Suluova, elle a créé le département de médecine interne et la branche des sciences de l'oncologie médicale à l'université Abant İzzet Baysal de Bolu entre 2011 et 2020, où elle a été chef de la branche des sciences. Pendant cette période, elle a formé des médecins résidents et des étudiants. Üyetürk, qui a reçu le titre de professeure agrégée en 2014, a passé 6 mois au Canada/Toronto en 2019. En 2020, elle a reçu le titre de professeure à l'université Abant İzzet Baysal.

Üyetürk a publié plus de 60 articles dans des revues internationales à comité de lecture et plus de 20 travaux scientifiques publiés dans des revues nationales à comité de lecture. Elle a également présenté plus de 100 communications lors de réunions scientifiques nationales et internationales et publiées dans des livres de comptes-rendus. En plus de son adhésion à la Société européenne d'oncologie médicale, elle est membre d'associations d'oncologie médicale dans le pays. Elle a reçu plus de 10 prix décernés par des universités et des congrès.

Assoc. Prof. Atakan Topçu, M.D., is a medical oncologist at Medipol University and Medipol Acıbadem Regional Hospital. He treats solid tumors, including lung, breast, colorectal, gastric, and neuroendocrine cancers. His work also covers targeted therapies, immunotherapy, geriatric oncology, and cancer-related malnutrition, cachexia, and sarcopenia.

He has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed papers. Recent work includes a 2024 Frontiers in Medicine study on geriatric syndromes and a 2023 Future Oncology paper on sarcopenia and anxiety in lung cancer. He has also published on the CONUT score in breast cancer and on malnutrition in HER2-negative metastatic gastric cancer.

Dr. Topçu serves on the Editorial Board of BMC Cancer. He is a member of the Turkish Society of Medical Oncology, ESMO, and the Turkish Geriatrics Society.
