Le professeur Kyzas a soutenu sa thèse de doctorat en cancérologie H&N avec mention (Αριστα) , produisant plusieurs publications influentes et très citées. Il a publié plus de 70 articles scientifiques dans des revues à fort impact et compte plus de 6 000 citations.

Après ses études, le professeur Kyzas a suivi une formation postuniversitaire au Royaume-Uni et a réussi à obtenir un poste de formation très compétitif dans le programme de formation supérieure de spécialité en chirurgie buccale et maxillo-faciale du Royaume-Uni. Il a été formé dans certains des plus grands hôpitaux universitaires du nord-ouest du Royaume-Uni. Il a reçu le certificat d'achèvement de formation (CCT) en chirurgie buccale et maxillo-faciale du General Medical Council (GMC). Par la suite, il a réussi à obtenir l'une des rares et prestigieuses bourses d'interface de formation (TIG) à l'échelle du Royaume-Uni en oncologie chirurgicale de la tête et du cou. Il a terminé avec succès sa formation et s'est vu décerner la sous-spécialité de chirurgie de la tête et du cou par le Joint Committee of Surgical training (JCST).

En 2014, il a été nommé consultant permanent en chirurgie buccale et maxillo-faciale/tête et cou à Manchester. Il a traité des centaines de patients atteints d'un cancer de la tête et du cou, offrant une chirurgie ablative et reconstructive majeure de pointe. Il est spécialisé dans le transfert de tissus libres microvasculaires et il a introduit et développé la chirurgie reconstructive par imprimante 3D - planification personnalisée (PSP) dans son hôpital. Il a conduit son unité à devenir un centre de référence en ayant le plus grand nombre de cas réussis de PSP 3D au Royaume-Uni. Outre le cancer de la tête et du cou, le professeur Kyzas propose des traitements aux patients atteints de cancer de la peau du visage, de traumatismes buccaux et maxillo-faciaux, de chirurgie dento-alvéolaire, de chirurgie orthognathique, de maladies des glandes salivaires, de chirurgie esthétique du visage, de chirurgie de l'articulation temporo-mandibulaire et de tout autre élément du large spectre de la chirurgie buccale et maxillo-faciale. Il a effectué plusieurs milliers d'interventions chirurgicales et possède une vaste expérience dans toutes les affections buccales et maxillo-faciales. Il s'intéresse particulièrement à l'utilisation du laser pour les pathologies buccales et il est le chercheur principal d'un essai international examinant l'efficacité de la résection transorale au laser dans le cancer de la tête et du cou. Il est chirurgien microvasculaire certifié et accrédité en réanimation cardiorespiratoire avancée (ATLS).

Juste avant la pandémie de Covid, le professeur Kyzas s'est vu offrir une opportunité unique de diriger le développement d'un service de cancérologie de la tête et du cou dans le Lancashire. Le professeur Kyzas et son équipe ont réussi à établir le service en quelques mois, et tout au long de la période difficile de Covid. L'unité H&N ELHT produit désormais des résultats oncologiques qui se comparent favorablement à ceux de n'importe quelle grande unité H&N dans le monde. Le professeur Kyzas a été nommé directeur clinique de tous les services de cancérologie de l'ELHT, couvrant une population de plus d'un million de personnes.

En 2021, le professeur Kyzas a reçu le très prestigieux Bronze National Clinical Excellence Award pour l'ensemble de ses services au sein du NHS. Il est le plus jeune consultant à avoir reçu ce prix et le seul chirurgien chypriote de l'OMFS à avoir été considéré pour un tel prix.

Le professeur Kyzas est impliqué depuis longtemps dans la recherche médicale. En 2007, il a terminé sa thèse de doctorat qui a donné lieu à plusieurs publications très citées dans certaines des revues médicales les plus prestigieuses. Il a participé à des collaborations internationales pour l'amélioration de la recherche médicale ( http://progress-partnership.org/publications ) et certains de ses articles ont eu un impact significatif sur l'amélioration de la méthodologie de recherche. Il a donné plusieurs conférences internationales invitées et a présenté des exposés lors de conférences nationales et internationales. Il a été membre du panel des comités de sélection des stagiaires de tous les niveaux en chirurgie orale et maxillo-faciale au Royaume-Uni. Il est régulièrement réviseur pour de nombreuses revues médicales. Il est le formateur principal de la bourse TIG H&N pour son hôpital et le responsable de la recherche pour son doyenné. Il participe activement à la recherche clinique et est le chercheur principal de nombreux essais cliniques. Il est membre du corps enseignant du cours « Tactiques de résection de la tête et du cou et lambeau libre » organisé par le Royal College of Surgeons d'Édimbourg. Il propose des formations thématiques en chirurgie oncologique de la tête et du cou aux étudiants en médecine. En 2018, il a reçu le « Surgical Educator Excellence Award » décerné par Health Education North West (HEENW). La même année, il a été nommé médecin de l'année par la Northern Care Alliance.

Le professeur Kyzas est l'investigateur en chef de l'essai MANTRA , un ECR multicentrique britannique financé par le NIHR à hauteur de plusieurs millions de livres sterling, lancé en juillet 2023. Il s'agit du plus grand essai contrôlé randomisé jamais réalisé dans la spécialité de l'OMFS.

En raison de ses réalisations cliniques et de recherche/académiques exceptionnelles, le professeur Kyzas a été nommé professeur invité en chirurgie OMFS H&N à l'université Edge Hill.

En 2018, le professeur Kyzas a été élu rédacteur en chef adjoint du British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (BJOMS). En janvier 2024, le professeur Kyzas a pris ses fonctions de rédacteur en chef du BJOMS. C'est la première fois qu'un Chypriote grec est choisi pour ce rôle très prestigieux. Le professeur Kyzas siège au conseil de la British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (BAOMS).

Le professeur Kyzas est un expert médical pleinement accrédité et a fourni des centaines de rapports d'experts médicaux sur la négligence (πραγματογνώμονας). En juin 2024, le professeur Kyzas a obtenu son diplôme en droit avec mention (Άριστα) , devenant ainsi membre d'un club très prestigieux de professionnels de la santé ayant un intérêt actif et des connaissances certifiées dans la pratique médico-légale.

Le professeur Kyzas est un chirurgien buccal et maxillo-facial pleinement accrédité, inscrit au registre des spécialistes du General Medical Council (GMC) du Royaume-Uni, de l'Association médicale de Chypre (Chypre) et de l'Association dentaire de Chypre (Chypre). En outre, il est également pleinement reconnu et enregistré en tant que chirurgien buccal par le General Dental Council (GDC) du Royaume-Uni. Dr. Pollán received advanced clinical training at the University of Pittsburgh and the University Hospital of Pisa. He leads the robotic head and neck surgery program at his hospitals. He is a faculty member at the ENT Teaching Unit of Germans Trias i Pujol. Dr. Pollán has published many peer-reviewed articles and frequently lectures at national and international conferences.

Dr. Melikgazi Ozturk is a specialist in Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery. He currently practices at Memorial Şişli Hospital. He has worked as a specialist at several leading hospitals, including Şişli Hamidiye Etfal Training and Research Hospital, Afyonkarahisar State Hospital, Düzce Atatürk State Hospital, and Kayseri City Training and Research Hospital.

Dr. Ozturk completed his specialist training at Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine, where he also served as a research assistant from 2018 to 2023. He received his medical degree from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine. He has also worked as a general practitioner at Çorum Sungurlu State Hospital. Dr. Ozturk’s background combines strong clinical experience with academic research in plastic and reconstructive surgery.
