After receiving his Medical Degree, Board Certification in Allergy and Clinical Immunology, and PhD in Basic and Applied Immunology, Dr. Della Torre worked for 3 years in the United States at the “Ragon Institute of Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Harvard Medical School” in Boston. Thanks to a Cariplo Foundation research grant, Dr. Della Torre returned to Italy in 2018 and established his lab within the Division of Genetic and Cell Biology of San Raffale Hospital (Milan, Italy).

 

Dr. Della Torre is now Assistant Professor of Rheumatology at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University and Senior Consultant at the Unit of Immunology, Rheumatology, Allergy, and Rare Disease (UnIRAR) of San Raffaele Hospital.

 

Dr. Della Torre authored more than 100 scientific publications on international peer-reviewed journals and achieved prestigious awards such as the Collegio Ghislieri and the Cariplo Foundation awards for young researchers, the TRIDEO award, the MyFirst AIRC research grant, and the Career Research Grant Award from the FOREUM Foundation.

 

With his seminal works Dr. Della Torre contributed to the characterization of a novel autoimmune disease known as “IgG4-related disease” and is currently considered “World Expert of IgG4-related disease” by the prestigious Expertscape platform.

 

Dr. Della Torre is the Disease Coordinator of the IgG4-related disease European working group of the European Reference Network (ERN) on Rare Connective Tissue and Musculoskeletal Diseases (ReCONNET).

 

Up to September 2022, his scientific publications received more than 6000 citations with an H-index of 35.

 

Dr. Della Torre presented his studies in different national and international immune-rheumatologic congresses, organized a number of scientific meetings, and co-authored 10 medical books. He presently serves as reviewer for more than 50 peer-reviewed journals and as associated editor for three international scientific journals. Dr. Della Torre is a Head of the:

  • Autoimmune pancreatitis Clinic
