Le professeur agrégé Gorkem Turkkan a commencé ses études de médecine à l'Académie de médecine militaire de Gülhane en 2003 et les a terminées à la Faculté de médecine de l'Université Zonguldak Karaelmas (Bülent Ecevit) en 2009. Il a terminé sa spécialisation à la Faculté de médecine de l'Université de Trakya, Département de radio-oncologie et est devenu spécialiste en radio-oncologie en 2016.

Français Après avoir terminé son service obligatoire, il a été maître de conférences et chef de département à la faculté de médecine de l'université Muğla Sıtkı Koçman, département de radio-oncologie, de mai 2019 à février 2021. Entre mars et juin 2020, il a travaillé comme chercheur clinique au département de radio-oncologie de la faculté de médecine de l'université de Maastricht - clinique MAASTRO (Pays-Bas) sur la radiothérapie stéréotaxique, la toxicité pulmonaire liée à la radiothérapie thoracique et la protonthérapie. Alors qu'il travaillait à la faculté de médecine de l'université d'İstinye, au département de radio-oncologie et à la clinique de radio-oncologie de l'hôpital Liv d'Ulus entre mars 2021 et avril 2023, il a reçu le titre de professeur associé en février 2023. Elle sert ses patients à l'hôpital Hisar Intercontinental depuis mai 2023.

Il a pratiqué la radiothérapie traditionnelle et la radiothérapie avancée tout au long de sa carrière. Il est l'un des médecins expérimentés de notre pays en matière de radiothérapie stéréotaxique et de radiothérapie guidée par IRM, qui sont devenues de plus en plus populaires et utilisées surtout récemment. Jusqu'à présent, il a réalisé avec succès plus de 2 500 séances de radiothérapie avec l'appareil MR-Linac.

Français Il est membre de la Société turque de radio-oncologie (TROD) depuis 2013 et de la Société européenne de radiothérapie et d'oncologie (ESTRO) depuis 2015. Il a publié 27 articles dans des revues nationales et internationales, 31 présentations orales par affiches présentées lors de congrès nationaux et internationaux et 5 chapitres de livres publiés par des maisons d'édition nationales et internationales. Il a enseigné les cours de premier cycle du premier et du cinquième trimestre à la faculté de médecine de l'université Muğla Sıtkı Koçman, les cours de troisième cycle dans le cadre de la formation de spécialisation du département ORL et les cours de licence en radiothérapie à l'école professionnelle des services de santé de l'université d'İstinye. Elle travaille actuellement sur 2 projets TÜBİTAK en cours. Il est marié et a un fils.

Assoc. Prof. Atakan Topçu, M.D., is a medical oncologist at Medipol University and Medipol Acıbadem Regional Hospital. He treats solid tumors, including lung, breast, colorectal, gastric, and neuroendocrine cancers. His work also covers targeted therapies, immunotherapy, geriatric oncology, and cancer-related malnutrition, cachexia, and sarcopenia.

He has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed papers. Recent work includes a 2024 Frontiers in Medicine study on geriatric syndromes and a 2023 Future Oncology paper on sarcopenia and anxiety in lung cancer. He has also published on the CONUT score in breast cancer and on malnutrition in HER2-negative metastatic gastric cancer.

Dr. Topçu serves on the Editorial Board of BMC Cancer. He is a member of the Turkish Society of Medical Oncology, ESMO, and the Turkish Geriatrics Society.
