Le traitement du cancer de la prostate par curiethérapie est effectué au Manipal Comprehensive Cancer Center.
L'intervention dure 1h30 et se déroule sous anesthésie locale ou générale. Cela commence par la pose du cathéter pour retirer l’urine. Ensuite, un médecin implante des aiguilles spéciales pour transmettre les grains radioactifs dans la prostate. Une fois l'opération terminée, un patient est hospitalisé. Le lendemain, un patient consulte un médecin pour retirer le cathéter et subir un contrôle. S'il n'y a pas de complications, le patient peut rentrer chez lui.
Le coût de la curiethérapie pour le cancer de la prostate est calculé individuellement.
