He also led the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Pediatric Surgery and served as President of the Austrian Pediatric Surgery Society.
He earned his doctorate at the University of Vienna in 1982. He has been Professor of Pediatric and Adolescent Surgery at SFU Vienna since 2017. He has been Chief Surgeon at Vienna Private Clinic since 2021. Honors include an honorary doctorate from Carol Davila University (2012), honorary membership of the Austrian Society of Pediatric Surgery (2023), and the Golden Badge of Honor of the City of Vienna (2023).
